Bonus contribution calculator

Calculate how much each wager reduces a bonus requirement when a game contributes less than 100%.

Calculate game contribution

A contribution rate controls how much of a qualifying wager counts towards the remaining playthrough. At 20% contribution, an A$10 bet reduces the requirement by only A$2. Enter the remaining requirement and the rules shown in the casino's bonus terms.

What game contribution means

Contribution is the share of an eligible wager that a casino counts towards a wagering requirement. If pokies contribute 100%, every A$1 wager reduces the requirement by A$1. If blackjack contributes 10%, the same A$1 wager reduces it by A$0.10. The stake and the amount counted are therefore different figures.

The percentage does not describe the return-to-player rate and it does not change the result of a round. It is an administrative bonus rule used to measure qualifying turnover.

How the four inputs affect the answer

The remaining requirement is the amount of eligible turnover still outstanding. The contribution percentage determines the counted amount per round. Your chosen bet estimates the number of rounds at the stake you plan to use; the maximum bet gives a second comparison at the highest stake permitted by the terms.

The calculator rounds the number of bets up because a fraction of a final bet cannot complete the requirement. If the chosen stake exceeds the maximum, the result is shown but the warning below it identifies the breach. A casino may cancel bonus funds or winnings after a maximum-bet violation, so the lower limit in the current terms is the one that matters.

Typical contribution patterns

Pokies often count at 100%, but excluded titles can count at zero. Live-casino games, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, video poker and low-house-edge table games frequently contribute at a lower rate or not at all. There is no universal percentage: two promotions at the same casino can use different tables, and a game provider or individual title may be treated as an exception.

For that reason, do not select a rate based only on the game category. Check the promotion's eligible-games list and contribution table. If the terms state several rates, calculate each game separately.

Worked example

Suppose A$1,000 of wagering remains, the chosen game contributes 20%, the maximum bet is A$5 and the intended stake is A$1. Each A$1 round counts as A$0.20, so 5,000 qualifying bets would be required at the chosen stake. At A$5, each round counts as A$1 and the estimate becomes 1,000 bets. If that game counted at 100%, A$5 would reduce the same requirement in 200 bets.

This comparison shows why a low contribution rate can matter more than the apparent size of a promotion. It does not show how much money will remain after those rounds; wins and losses are random, and the house edge still applies.

Rules this calculator cannot verify

Expiry times, excluded games, maximum cashout, country restrictions, account verification, irregular-play clauses and whether a bet is settled before expiry all sit outside the formula. The result also assumes every round uses the same stake and contribution rate. Recalculate if either changes.

Contribution formula

Counted progress per round equals the stake multiplied by the contribution percentage. The estimated number of rounds is the remaining wagering divided by that counted amount, rounded up to the next whole round. At an A$2 stake and 25% contribution, each settled wager reduces the requirement by A$0.50.

A zero contribution produces no progress, so the requirement cannot be completed through that game. This remains true even when the game itself returns a win.

Combining different games

The calculator assumes one stake and one contribution rate. If several game categories are used, calculate each block separately and subtract only the counted progress from the remaining requirement. For example, A$100 wagered at 100% reduces the requirement by A$100; another A$100 at 10% reduces it by only A$10.

Do not average percentages without also weighting the amount wagered in each category. An unweighted average can overstate progress when most play occurs in the lower-contribution game.

Chosen stake versus maximum stake

The maximum permitted stake is a compliance ceiling, not a recommended bet. The comparison result shows how the number of rounds changes at that ceiling, but a smaller amount may be more appropriate for an affordable budget and the volatility of the selected game.

If the chosen stake exceeds the published maximum, reduce it before play. Completing the mathematical turnover does not normally cure an earlier maximum-bet breach.

Rounding, settled bets and expiry

The result rounds upward because part of a final round cannot be placed. Casinos commonly count only settled eligible bets, which means a wager still open at the expiry time may not reduce the requirement. Voided, refunded or cash-out bets can also receive different treatment.

Check the account counter after changing game or stake. If it does not move as expected, pause and ask support to identify the contribution rule before committing more funds.

When the estimate should make you decline a bonus

A technically achievable number of rounds may still be unsuitable. Compare the expected turnover with the money and time you intended to spend before seeing the promotion. A low contribution rate can turn a modest-looking requirement into a session that is much longer than planned.

Do not increase the stake simply to shorten the estimate. A larger stake raises the amount exposed on every round and may breach the offer's limit. If the calculation only works after changing an affordable budget, the clearer option is to skip the bonus.

Use the estimate as a limit check

A high number of required bets is not a target that must be completed. Do not chase losses or speed up play to finish a promotion. Stop when an affordable time or money limit is reached, even if wagering remains.

Frequently asked questions

Why does 0% contribution show “Not possible”?

Because none of the stake reduces the requirement. Continued play on that game cannot complete the bonus turnover.

Does an A$5 bet at 20% contribution count as A$5?

No. It counts as A$1 towards the requirement: A$5 multiplied by 20%.

Can I use the casino's maximum bet safely?

Only if that is the limit in the exact promotion terms and the chosen game is eligible. Using a smaller stake may still be more appropriate for a personal budget.
